MEET MAJIDA!

Here's why she started playing and hasn't stopped since!

JOY IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE

As far back as I can remember, my wildest dream has always been to be a living representation of what it is to be a free human – a brilliantly shining beacon of light personifying possibility, and symbolizing the boundless possibilities and the profound joy that life offers when lived in alignment with one’s true self!

A normal, rigid, un-playful life just never fit me, regardless of how popular or common of an experience it is, and how deeply I used to believe that prioritizing play as a professional was pathetic!

PLAY IS ALWAYS

PART OF THE PRESCRIPTION

My decision to become a certified yoga instructor while still working within Corporate America catapulted my journey inward and expanded my personal definition of self-discovery. For the first time, I was given the opportunity to question my own life design and make some adjustments.

I took these concepts and practices for expansion with me as I traveled the world and used yoga to teach many things to many people in various countries, cultures, and socio-economic statuses.

From teaching yoga to earthquake survivors in Haiti as a method of healing to using yoga to teach English to students in Spain, I used my time working so intimately with humans of all ages to research and discover the secret to being happy, experiencing fulfillment, and feeling fully self-expressed despite the circumstances one is experiencing.

In every scenario, regardless of location, play was always a major part of the prescription!

WHAT GOOD IS LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE IF YOU ONLY DO IT ON VACATION?

If you’re like me, you don’t want to miss moments trying to capture and show off how “awesome” your life’s highlight reel is to others. What you do want is to fill your life with exciting and memorable experiences that you can share with the people who matter the most to you, because “What good is living your best life if you only do it on vacation?

What I’ve noticed in my varied global experiences is that much of the Western world is obsessed with “being successful,” in terms of amassing financial wealth, establishing status, and being recognized. It’s as if a silent voice within us is constantly nagging us to work-work-work and “make something of ourselves.”

However, according to the book “The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying”, dying people rarely ever look back on their lives and wish they had spent more time working to be successful, earning money or obtaining material things.  Instead, dying people tend to wish they had prioritized having fun, staying in touch with friends, and expressing their true self… all things that the healthy and living tend to not prioritize.

The Spark that Started

CALLE PLAY

I started Calle Play as a result of a series of realizations.

As my friends and I matured, making new genuine friendships became harder to do. Finding ways to have the kind of fun we’d laugh about for years later occurred less frequently. And, adapting to change, shifting belief systems, and opening up to embrace new ideas and new ways of experiencing the world became increasingly more arduous.

I watched as more and more people around me started hating their jobs but chose to stay in misery due to fear of losing status or ability to pay bills. I noticed that so many of my friends found themselves in unfulfilling relationships but chose not to leave due to expectations and investment of time.

Eventually, it became painfully obvious just how many adults allow themselves to accept complacency with lives they aren’t thrilled about living, and resort to finding various forms of escape from being themselves.

From that juncture, I made the decision to do what I could to help humans approach their life experiences from a playful perspective.

LIVE THE LIFE

YOU WANT TO REMEMBER

What started as a way to simply make sure I was actively having more FUN and being authentic in my own life, ended up being my life’s work (at least at this juncture).

Today, simply by educating people on the importance and benefits of play for adults and creating opportunities to have fun, I get to inspire people to discover ways to have a happier life, find pathways to loving and accepting themselves fully, and build bridges to their own abundance, joy and laughter.

If you’ve read this far, I’d like to personally say “Welcome Home.” You’ve successfully found your tribe!!

With love, gratitude, and playfulness,

Majida
